Complications of Sleep Apnea:
Sleep Apnea has been linked to medical as well as social complications.
Cardiovascular problems: The continuous drops in blood oxygen levels that occur during apnea episodes cause strain on the cardiovascular system, forcing your heart to work harder than it needs to keep your body working properly. Excessive strain on the heart can lead to heart attacks, stroke, and brain damage, and in extreme cases, even death.
Weight Gain: When the body doesn’t get the proper oxygenation it needs the metabolism will slow down causing weight gain.
Fatigue: Many people experience memory problems, poor concentration, slower reaction time, depression, even attention and behavior problems in younger patients.
